DescriptionHere’s Gene Colan doing what only Gene Colan could do in Captain America #118 (with inks by Joe Sinnott). From the first panel, Cap isn’t just running—he’s sliding across the page like someone hit fast-forward. Colan didn’t draw superheroes posing; he drew them mid-motion, mid-thought, mid-scene. Gene never seemed to care about the “house style.” He loved shadows, posture, and movement—and his art looked like nobody else’s on the stands. You either vibed with it or you didn’t. And I know some folks—including a few of my fellow comic art fans—definitely didn’t. But love him or not, nobody—before or since—has drawn comics quite like Gene Colan. Social/Sharing |

Colan's depiction of Cap's movement from 3 unique/different perspectives in each panel is so good. That mid-air pose in panel 2 is my favorite (the shadow on the car from his leg, great detail) but they are all excellent especially with the Sinnott inking bringing them out. fantastic page, congrats!

Beautiful early Cap Colan/Sinnott page. The page itself almost seems in motion at a glance. Congrats!

Colan is one of the greatest artists ever to grace the medium and this page shows us why. Great inks, too!

Powerful and graceful like a gazelle in mid stride! Colan and the Sinnott like had a nice balance of realism and cartooning.
