Elements of Disaster
text by Matt Brady and Tom McCraw

The Elements of Disaster are four mystical spirits that embody the four elements, Earth, Water, Fire and Air. They occupy host bodies and wage war against technology.
They first appeared in Legionnaires #71.
Legionnaire Dragonmage seeking to restore his powers that he lost in a battle with Mordru, opens a prison containing elemental spirits. The mystical energy beings launched into space and possessed four hosts that were in some way connected to the elements.
-The winged Flutter, a botanist from the planet Swizzar is transformed to A'Rie, element of the air.
-Brika, a native of Dyad is possessed by the Earth element and becomes Rrok.
-A jellyfish servant of the Gil'Dan becomes Ebb, element of water.
-And Dirk Morgna who had briefly possessed flame projection power becomes Phy'r.

In the battle with the Legion, Saturn Girl helps Dirk free his mind from his Elemental spirit and Rrok repents the destruction he caused. With the hosts divided, the Legion are able to banish all the Elemental spirits with only Brika and Dirk surviving the purge.

I've seen the look of Jeffrey with a pencil
Phil's seen the look super hero ink from bottle
I've Legion look of a heartsick battle love
But the look that leaves Phy'r real shook is the Rrok of love

I've seen the look of Matt Brady as a writer
I've seen the look of a Gil'Dan in the water
I've seen the look of those spacemen Ebb above
But the look that closes the book is the Rrok of love

It's Swizzar, it's lightning, the gentlest breeze
It's A'Rie, it's frightening
And more surprising than the Element's squeeze

I've seen the look every single brush ink line has
I've seen the Dirk is the fellow by the file is
But there's one book that I'd give my life to sea
We are locked in a wondrous new space
And there on that fabulous page
Is that fabulous Rrok of love for me

Great tentacles. I like the way they are creeping over the panel border.

Nice looking pinup and CAL pickup! And now I sort of want to see Earth, Wind & Fire when they hit up NYC on their tour next week ;-p

Now -THAT'S- a menacing looking lineup!  (You had me at the octopus, honestly!)  A really fun 'Who's Who'-worthy pin-up that has a bit more storytelling / narrative oomph than usual: the enormous conflagration in the background means Phy'r is towering over everything - which is terrifying, but thank goodness A'rie isn't a moth-type being, or we'd probably be down an Elemental pretty quickly...  Really cool piece, Miki - great pick up!
