Giffen made good use of the 9 panel layout, especially in the progression in the top tier.

Another really interesting showcase of black and white with some fine storytelling. I may be projecting too much here, but it feels like he really had a design-centered approach to these early pages... I really like how he grounds panels 4, 5, and 7 with those strong blacks at the bottom; a nice foundation that pre-supposes the placement and "mass" of the word balloons and the part they'll play in the overall design and composition of the page. Another cool post, Chris! Congrats!
