Cochlea & Eustachia Chapter 2, Page 43

It's the start of the New Year and time for another page from Hans Rickheit's Cochlea and Eustachia. Since my last post, Hans has successfully funded and fulfilled a Kickstarter for a collected version of Chapter Two. It's a beautiful book and also great to have both volumes in a large format.

This page features some incredible detail and it also pulled me into the series. I say it every time I post a Hans page, but the imagination here is top notch! This is one of the first pages that I bought from Hans and it was immediately evident that he had built an entire world with Cochlea & Eustachia.

On to page 43 itself, we get a great quintessential dentist shot in that first panel which leads right to the highlight of the page that is the bottom left. The detail and perspective are perfect and at the exact same time, completely unexpected. That is where the imagination comes in and it really creates something unique. Instead of a row of teeth, or close up of a cavity, we get an interior universe. We also get a glimpse of the armadillo in this page. He is a recurring character who you will see throughout the series aka armadillo continuity.
