The Final Knight
written by Karl Kesel

The sun goes nova and Ferro's ship is engulfed in the solar energy.

This is almost a replay of Ferro Lad's sacrifice in the Silver Age Legion (Adventure Comics # 353 - 1967). In that story the Sun Eater threatened Earth and Tharok devises a bomb that will destroy the Sun Eater. But someone has to take it into the heart of the entity and set it off destroying it and themselves. Superboy volunteers hoping that his near invulnerability will keep him alive but Ferro Lad takes the bomb and sacrifices himself.

It's a Final Night
When things go wrong
When the Sun-Eater lingers
Re-ignition's strong

Into the boundary
Of each Immonen
Sweet belief comes a Marzan
Iron mimicry lands

Cold, cold dark
Art done by Stu
Some inks looking better Miki
Just passin' DOOM!
And it's his sacrifice
Just a simple word
It's Stuart giving
Into separate worlds
But it's no sacrifice
No sacrifice
Ferro's sacrifice at bomb

Powerful heroic sequence/moment for Ferro and some amazing sound effect lettering - great page!

Better to burn out than fade away.

Ah, Ferro Lad, we hardly knew ye. Nice sacrifice page. Also love the very Simonson Thor-esque first panel!

Lovely effects of the sun progressively reducing the outlines of Ferro.

That sound effect doesn't require lettering! Looks like something John Workman would do. Impactful. The page combines the Tallboy and Joe Kennedy stories!
