Star Wars Boba Fett by Rich Cirillo

Four years ago I began dipping my foot in artistic waters I hadn't had the nerve to tread in before, painting. For most of my life I worked in pencils, inks, color markers and digital, but painting was something I rarely attempted. With no formal training I learned as I went along and made countless mistakes. Four years ago I made some strides with a Boba Fett watercolor painting I worked on, that is in my CAF gallery. Back then it was more of an ink drawing that I colored. As I progressed on other pieces I learned to eliminate the black line as much as possible to give it a more realistic appearance, among other disciplines. I'm still learning, but I find with each new piece I am getting closer to where I'd like to be as a painter and artist. This piece was my first attempt, after 4 years to approach a character I had painted before, and see the growth in a comparable piece. I still remember the words of Neal Adams, when I worked for him a few years ago and I would show him my latest pieces regularly for feedback. He said to me one day, you'll find yourself drawing for years, and hating most of what you draw, but one day after many attempts you'll look at a piece you create and on the page it will be magic! You won't know exactly how you arrived there, but something magical will be on the page! I strive everyday since then to one day achieve that magic, and hear Neal say in my head, "See, I was right!"
