Morpheus [Sandman] by Jon Imparo

I received this piece last year from Jon Imparo, and I've been quietly obsessed with it ever since.

With commissions, usually I give only the vaguest direction and let the artist follow their own vision. But this time, having seen many of Jon's previous creations, his style sparked a rather specific image in my mind. I'm immensely grateful that he was open to hearing me out and working with that idea instead of my usual "do whatever you feel" approach.

What he created not only captured the mood and aesthetics I was hoping for, it completely surpassed them. The way he handles the light, the sweep of the wings, the dreamlike night sky... everything is richer, more atmospheric, and more beautiful than the version I'd been carrying around in my head.
