In 2022, I completed a multi-artist jam piece and was looking for an idea to start another one. Alan Davis was doing head sketches at Heroes Con to benefit the Hero Initiative, so I got a piece of blank art board from an artist and asked Alan to give me a Kitty Pryde head shot. (He included Lockheed!)

I wasn't sure where it was going from there, but it had not progressed any further by Heroes Con 2023, so Alan added the Nightcrawler pencil headshot. OK, so now it's an Excalibur theme. The next year, he added Rachel.

That left one quadrant empty, but two more core team members to go. That's what I get for not planning ahead! At the 2026 Original Art Expo, Alan proposed fitting both Captain Britain and Megan into the final corner, posing appropriately close to one another. Mission accomplished!
