Iconic Panel: Wolverine by Chris Stevens

Chris Stevens launches my Iconic Panels Sketchbook with his take on John Byrne’s classic depiction of Wolverine from the end of Uncanny X-Men #132!

Uncanny X-Men #132 (1980) features the pivotal moment where Wolverine, thought to be defeated and thrown into the sewers by the Hellfire Club, emerges as a lone, enraged survivor, ready to fight back.

The Scene: At the end of the issue, after Harry Leland uses his powers to drop Wolverine into the sewer, Wolverine emerges from the water, battered but furious.

The Iconic Line: He declares, "Okay, suckers — you've taken yer best shot... now it's my turn!"

Significance: This moment is considered the point where Wolverine transformed from a team member into a breakout, fan-favorite solo star, setting up his rampage against the Hellfire Club in Uncanny X-Men #133
