Description
John Amor - Cyclops and Jean - Atmosphere Series - OAX '26

Many are familiar with John's Atmosphere Series. I've been itching for one or two for a long time. I know many have also wanted a piece like this from John. I typically do not suggest or prefer an artist to take on X-Men #137 in my commissions; however, John did a phenomenal job. I had originally suggested Cyclops versus Magneto a la X-Men #1, but John had a vision, and I have to say I truly love it.

I picked this up at OAX '26 from Jiggy. I think we got a video on someone's phone?

Well, I am certainly impressed by this piece. I was struck by the depth and layering that give the piece so much range. Everyone who saw it said, "I recognize those rocks," talking about the rubble Scott and Jean are fighting on. The X juxtaposed with the large, bright moon, which is just off to one side, is a brilliant way to draw your eye around. I am most in love with the meteors and the small shooting stars, which are so small but clever little details. Jean's mask is terrific, and I love the Marvel Girl outfit. Also, the play with the light over her leg creates the effect that they're under the X, which is brilliant.

A truly brilliant piece. I am already itching for more.

Any new entry to John's Atmosphere series is worthy of a look, or two, or several! he's doing some really impressive and creative/different work, very cool piece - congrats!

Thanks, Kavi. This was a complete surprise but a welcome one nonetheless. He could just do a piece with only celestial bodies similar to his surfer piece and it would hit just as hard.

Oh mama! Johnny A strikes again - I love to see how he's constantly experimenting and evolving, while still maintaining his own unique voice. Great request, stellar result!
