Quite beautiful as it has the kind of silver age storytelling that enthralled the generation that saw the return of Cap and a new generation discovering him for the first time! The last panel is so wonky and so Kirby!

Love this Silver Age era Captain America page from Kirby and Shores! I love a great large 4-panel layout, especially from this era - every panel usually gives such a great size and almost has splash page like qualities to each individual panel. The first panel has that great head on action/hero shot as he tries to clear the debris, the second panel has that perfect close up shot of Cap, you get Kirby hands in the 3rd panel, and the really unique perspective/camera angle as the trap door is reveleaed in the 4th panel is unlike any other I can recall so I understand why that one jumped out to you so much especially. Great stuff all around to appreciate on this page. congrats!

Many thanks, Alessandro. Shores over Colan on Daredevil was marvellous as well. Perhaps it's not one or the other but the fact that Shores was a really good inker. That having been said, it is true that Colan's pencils were notoriously difficult to ink and Shore managed that with aplomb.
Wow, a second Syd Shores inked Kirby page posted to CAF on consecutive days? What a rare treat! Just as I said about the previously posted one, Shores didn't do much work over Kirby, but when he did, he used his brush to soften the sharp, blockiness of Kirby's pencil line with an old school illustrative flair that lent a rare level of realism to Kirby's work. That's not something any other inker ever accomplished with Kirby's work. The second pane closeup is a perfect example of this. It's why I also love Shores' work on Colan's Daredevil, but Colan's pencil line was already very smooth and sweeping, so the change to the pencils was not shocking the way it is here over Kirby. Absolutely spectacular!

Super stuff. You really do have some good 'toys' in your collection. I used the word toys because like old toy collectors this is amongst the most nostalgiac of collecting fields. Wait till you read my weepy description of a piece of artwork I have recently managed to snag but not uploaded as its not yet in my sweaty (from excitement) paws. I was told that none of the artwork from the story still existed by a later friend of the artist. Guess at least one escaped.
