Description
Reading Cry for Dawn issue 5 back in “93 had such an impact on me, almost as if it hit a nerve. The cover had Dawn in a provocative post, but the issue itself had no story of Dawn herself. WTF I first thought; it was my first foray into reading indie comics. Fast forward to about three decades later, I stumble upon this Red Sonja art by Joe Linsner. It reminded me so much of Michelle from the last story, Burn Brightest, from Cry for Dawn 5, which was written and drawn by Joe himself. Sonja’s boyish locs with her dreamy eyes in this painting was what sold me notwithstanding the lack of her typical preferred skimpy attire. I acquired this painting from Joe Linsner.

Great resting mood and a nice change from Linsner's usually pin upy covers.

Nice Linsner! I'm not used to seeing his ladies with so much armour (or any clothing for that matter) on, great natural pose and scene and some excellent additional details in the background and foreground. one of my fav Linsner's I've seen in awhile. Congrats!

I love that this has such a great connection to your comic book past, Michael. To me, the best part of it is that she's gazing solemnly into your eyes, thankful to you for rescuing her from among the pile of originals Joe has in his home.

This one is like that of the high school football team getting beat, but keeps playing for the love of the game!
