Hal Jordan - Green Lantern by Jamie Jones

This piece is part of a larger collection of comic art sketch cards that represent friends I have met along the way in the comic art hobby. Some were chosen because the collector seriously focuses on that character, and others simply because I noticed a piece in their gallery and wanted to see a sketch card interpretation of that character. I decided not to name names, leaving the collection open to interpretation, since it reflects the community as a whole and the shared connections that make this hobby meaningful. Each card is a tribute to the friendships formed, the generosity of fellow collectors, and the joy of discovering characters through someone else’s passion.

This piece came from Jamie Jones (Bowtie Press), and it really speaks to me. I love how dark and moody it is, with that burst of green light exploding from Hal’s fist. The theme was to follow Liam Sharp’s Hal Jordan, which was one of the few DC series I actually read straight through. Jamie and I were able to meet at OAX 2026 and chatted for quite a while. He is a talented artist and a genuinely fun person to talk with.

This piece was inspired by my OAX 2026 roommate, a collector who is always a joy to be around and learn from. Back in 2026, he had me help interview another artist, which was a blast, especially getting to jump in as the cameraman. He has been incredibly supportive of me through difficult times and is an all around enjoyable person to collect with. He is an avid Green Lantern collector, though funny enough I’m not sure if there’s a Liam Sharp piece in there yet. This is one of two Hal Jordan sketch cards I received, as I set one aside as a roommate gift for OAX. Another inspired card, placed in the right hands. With this piece, I was exploring Hal Jordan as I know him since I was picking up two of the same character. A fun rendition.
