Another in my "Untold Tales Of Infinity Inc" series, this one being issue #33.1, adapted by Luis Rivera from Dave Cockrum's cover to X-Men #109.
Vandal Savage continues his plan to destroy the heirs and associates of his long-time enemies the Justice Society, and hires Doctor Light to kill the son of his former ally the Brain Wave. With his suit enhanced with the addition of technology supplied by Savage, Doctor Light ambushes Henry King Jr as he - and fellow Infinity Inc members Nuklon, Fury and Hourman - go hiking in the hills outside Los Angeles.
A stroboscopic light burst is enough to temporarily disrupt Brainwave's mental powers and immobilise the other Infinitors, but Fury's half-Amazon heritage allows her to recover faster than the villain anticipated - and before he can carry out his assignment and end Brainwave's life - and even Doctor Light's new "light-shields" aren't enough to deal with simultaneous power-packed punched from Fury, Nuklon and Hourman, which knock him into unconsciousness. As Brainwave recovers, he remains woozy, so the team members cut short their hiking trip and return to LA to get treatment for him and to hand a captive Doctor Light over to the authorities.
Watching from afar via a hovering drone, Vandal Savage sighs. Perhaps he will hire a more effective mercenary next time - or maybe he should take direct action. Time will tell...
