"SWAMP THING: ROOTS" Graphic Novel pg 48 art by Jon J. Muth (1998)

Hovered over buying this page for years.  Years ago when I learned Jon J. Muth did a Swamp Thing graphic novel I immediately bought it to give it a read.  What followed was an interesting tale...it stays small in its humble 1940's American setting and many of the pages depict what is normal life activities, driving a car, doing laundry, kids, a mother, family etc...it takes a slower introspective pace in its character and plot.  I didn't know what to expect when I sat down to read it, but I was happily suprised with the attempt and thr highlights of what is Swamp Thing: Roots.  More than anything I love when a mainstream character is used as a vehicle to dive into heavier philosophical realms.  Out of my respect of the attempt and the love of Muth's art I simply couldn't continue to resist.

Muth, published by DC Comics' Vertigo imprint, that tells the story of a previous Earth Elemental before Alec Holland. The standalone, 64-page book focuses on a small town terrorized by a supernatural force and the Elemental's quest for redemption, featuring Muth's signature art and a horror-suspense tone. It is known as a lesser-known but significant work in the Swamp Thing canon, bridging different eras of the character.
