Grummett, Tom - Cable #151 Cover - $1,600

A wondrous cover featuring Cable, joined by the killing machine X-23, Longshot, Shatterstar, Doop, Armor and Blink. As always, the characters exhibit the realistic and accurately portrayed human anatomy Grummett excels at. One of the cool things about being able to see the pencils separate from the inks is that it allows you to study the little nuances that the penciller puts into the work, and then compare it bit by bit to the inked version to see what subtle changes may have occurred in the inking stage. If you look carefully, Tom drew X-23 with her eyes looking directly at the "cameraman" standing ahead of Cable and shooting this scene, which is a it should be. However, for some inexplicable reason, the inker changed her eyes so they instead appear to be looking over to her immediate left, as if she was taken by surprise at how quickly Cable ran past and ahead of her. The inker did a nice job otherwise, but little details like this stand out to me and as the saying goes, "the devil is in the details".
