Dampyr #54 (2004) page 97: He's a doll now

In the aftermath of the battle with Melkiresh and Druj, Caleb talks with Nikolaus about the opera singers, starting on page 97:

“They will have only a vague memory of what happened. They will recall their triumphant evening. But the dangers they faced and the encounters with extraordinary creatures have been erased from their minds… unless they reappear in a dream.”

“And the spectators? We were unable to finish the opera as we should have.”

“Do you think anyone noticed? Our guests are not opera experts, Nikolaus, and those few who understood, seeing Melkiresh imprisoned in the mirror, preferred to pretend nothing had happened. However, I believe that after this umpteenth failure, Nergal will stay quiet for a while… or I could report him for trying to break the truce.”

“And so, as usual, he got away with it. But at least you have gained another beautiful puppet for your theater, Caleb. What do you think? Is the likeness similar enough?” (Melkiresh is now trapped in one of Caleb's marionettes.)

“So similar, even a child would know. It would be better to keep Melkiresh locked up in a chest in the attic, dear Nik.”

The top panel depicting the stage scene in Venice is particularly nice.
