What a gem of a piece of X-Men and Marvel Comics history! That first panel is so fantastic and it's a first appearance of a significant person in X-Men lore with Trask. I think any hardcore X-Men fan would be thrilled to own this despite any hang ups about the inking potentially being better if it was someone other than Colletta ;) - congrats sir!

My first exposure to early xmen was issue 15. Master mold. They hold special places in my nostalgia heart!
When I first read that particular issue, Ben, I noticed that the artwork was somewhat different and that was due to the smoother inking of Ayers. Issue 16 was something else - I remember being totally floored by the cover itself, with the Master Mold sitting in the center and taking up most of the cover as the X-Men surrounded him. Many, many years later, I was able to obtain the splash page of that issue at what even today would be considered a huge, huge cost. I didn't know at the time that the cover to that issue had been lost in a fire so, with the benefit of hindsight, it was ultimately worth all the financial pain in obtaining the splash page to that issue which had a similar idea, albeit with only the Master Mold's face taking center stage in the splash itself (which I think you also commented on).

Many thanks, Anthony. Even with Colletta's inks, the top panel is very nice indeed. In fairness to Colletta, some of his other work was excellent (in particular, with Kirby on Thor).
A definitive turning point in the history of the X-Men, not to mention the Marvel Silver Age and even the whole of comic history: the appearance of Bolivar Trask marks the intrusion of prejudice built on fear and rejection. All this by a non-super-powered human... On top of it, this is the starting point of a staggering series of powerful Sentinels story arcs that have graced the pages of Marvel Comics for decades (My personal favourite: X-Men 57-59 by Roy Thimas and Neal Adams).
Simply put, this is a genuine cornerstone! And congrats are in order!
