Detective Comics #1027 p. 6 by Dan Jurgens & Kevin Nowlan

Nowlan wonderfully makes all his inked pages look like Nowlan - that's what you're getting when you sign up, and Jurgens keeps coming back for me as he clearly knows that how you make a great piece of art.

I thought this was Ron Frenz pencils.

Well it's not Al Williamson so there's no Heritage or internet confusion there

Calendar Man is the best, even when he's getting wrecked by Batman! Def get a strong Nowlan finish which looks great here, and sweet bonus Jurgens sketch on the back. At first I was wondering why this is a milestone then ahh Tec 27 to 1027, 1k Batman appearances issues later (I didn't check every issue. I'm sure DC did hehe). 

Those last 2 panels are music to my eyes... if that makes sense!

The Jurgens/Nowlan Express is one hell of a ride!

Before clicking on the piece (and getting more detailed info), I thought it may have been Dan Jurgens inked by Kevin Nowlan. But that that heavy line is all Kev, while the layout is pure Jurgens. Wild contrasts that make for a unique collaboration.

Bat-Capsules and Utility Belt Pouches on the same panel?!?! Is this a Birth Page?!?!?!

Nope. No BIRTH page here (except maybe the birth of Calendar Man dressed as a Universal Monster). Those are actually birth control pills Batman is tossing from his utility belt. He didn't last 1000 issues of Detective Comics without learning a few tricks along the way.

Nowlan inks dominate!  They are slick textured and makes the Jurgens action feel so fluid!

Nowlan makes every page he inks his own, which is not a bad thing.

Love the inking on that close-up. At first I was thinking Calendar man was the Phantom of the Opera
