Description

DC's Rima the Jungle Girl, colored pencil on an 18 x 24 board.

Nestor Redondo's last commission, this piece was completed shortly before his death.

If you didn't know, Rima was one of DC's great shortlived series of the 1970's.

Rima was created by W.H. Hudson.

The spectacular bird above Rima is the male Resplendent Quetzal, native mostly to the Costa Rican rainforests. There are 6 species of Quetzal's from Mexico to Panama. Quetzal means "large brilliant tailfeather" and is associated with the snake god, Quetzalcoatl, by pre-Colombian civilizations. The Quetzal is the national symbol of Guatemala and the name of it's currency. Coda knows his pretty birds! Oh yeah, another nice piece Will! :)
