Raymond, Alex - Photo with His Wife and their Dog

This photograph originates from the historic archive of William Randolph Hearst's San Francisco Examiner newspaper. In addition to being the flagship of Hearst's newspapers, it was his original paper which he took over in 1887, and was the basis for the 1941 Orson Welles film, Citizen Kane. On the verso of the photograph there is a copy of how it was used in the newspaper clipping and has the Examiner date stamp on and is the clipping of the original article the photograph was used in. The photo is by Mary Joe Connolly. The date stamp indicates it was used on January 25, 1948, and was catalogued for the Examiner's Reference Library on February 6, 1948.
