Daredevil #86, page 3

Colan/Everett Black Widow pages from Amazing Adventures #'s 3-5 are grail/canon items for me as a collector, but there are only thirty of them out there! There are, of course, many more fine Gene Colan penciled Natasha pages from her co-starring run in Daredevil.


This page inked by Colan's greatest collaborator, Tom Palmer, is actually the very first example of them working on Natasha together (Jack Abel, Syd Shores and Bill Everett inked her previous appearances in DD). Colan and Palmer would have an extraordinary run drawing Daredevil and the Black Widow, and go on to create countless beautiful pages featuring comics' first "liberated" couple. Gene's expressive portraiture is really peerless, and Tom's inking is lush and sensitive on this page.
