Description
Reproduced as a chromo lithograph in the 1850s. Exhibited as "Timidite" at tjhe 1851 Paris Universal Exhibition. This is a variant of The Shy Sitter, which was highly praised by Ruskin and which is now in the Harris Museum and Art Gallery in Preston, England. Another version of Diffidence also exists, virtually identical to this watercolor.
