Description
Wish I had Met Alfredo...I am not so much a Conan fan (but I don't mind the half-naked trappings) but I am an Alfredo Alcala Fan.....His inks especially.....unlike anyone else and it is amazing how you can tell his work by just looking at it....To me, he made Swamp Thing equally special and anything by him on Batman pencils was really Amazing.....You are missed, pare (pinoy word for buddy)...

9/5/2008 Someone corrected me as to the identity of this character....actually is Voltar..a character that predates Conan introduction to the USA but looks similar..probably similar enough which helped AA get the job inking over Buscema in the USA....thanks Fredo for the correction.

This pin-up is Voltar, one of the Alcala first character in Philippines. Voltar is very similar to Conan, this may be a reason Marvel remarked him and bring him to USA to start inking SSOC over Buscema pencil. Voltar first apperared in 1963 far earlier than Conan did in USA. (This is a shortcut of the whole story) One of the greal piece would be a plate from the Voltar portfolio (that I classify right after Wrightson with his Frankenstein)
