Description

Well... there's no Rocketeer, no Bettie, no babes, no T and no A. But the skills Dave Stevens used to draw all of that were also used to draw this piece.

This cover image comes from the last story of the comic which was drawn by Steve Rude. While Stevens' covers are primo pin up quality, this is a rare Stevens cover with some actual storytelling (i.e. illustration).

Very few people can come close to Stevens' girls. But let's face it, "The Rocketeer" wasn't just about great art. It was a great story that had some great storytelling. If it wasn't, it might be just like so many of the forgotten comics from 1980's "Independent" comics explosion.

But I still like to think those are female aliens. And Happy Christmas.

Rest in Peace, Dave Stevens.

Here in this illustration, his drawing skill really shines through! The way he illustrated the space outfits reminds a bit of Russ Manning. Very nice piece!

Wow! Very interesting Non-Rocketeer piece from Dave Stevens! Beautifully drawn illustration but what's it for? Something to do with Christmas on an Alien World? I notice the alien guy with the present is kneeling in what looks like snow. What's the object he's presenting? Is he proposing? I'm totally confused...but it IS a beautifully drawn illustration. Thanks for sharing!
