Description

Poster art for the famous and influential Misfit Lit art exhibition also used as the cover art to the accompanying catalogue. Curated by Gary Groth and Kim Thompson, the Misfit Lit show was critically acclaimed, enormously successful and proved instrumental in the effort to show that comics art is "real art". Focusing on the artists involved in the "alternative" comics of the late '80's and early '90's, the show debuted at the Center of Contemporary Arts in Seattle, March 1991.

Seeing this original is a real treat--I love Clowes' style from the period, and this image has long been on of my absolute faves. You really can't beat that inking--or the beads of sweat! One of the coolest pieces of art on the site, so congrats!
