It's not a secret! Patrick Scherberger kicks butt. He's made Spider-man fun and interesting again. A great cover by a great guy, perfectly inked by Roland Paris without a drop of correction fluid. Worth every nickel and better than most Spider-man covers published in the last 15 years.
I bought this through Patrick's rep in 2007. This piece was originally given by Patrick to his mother, a hey-I've-made-it gift but when he drew the 'Aunt May, Spidey and Doc Ock have tea cover' a trade was made. Mom took that absolutely adorable cover and this one came onto the market. And with this purchase I set the top of the Scherberger market. If you're paying more for your Scherberger art, you can blame me.
Actually, I don't believe that. This cover would have been snatched up by a number of collectors, of that I have no doubt. Yet this piece has been the brunt of disdain amongst some of my collecting compatriots, who continually wonder aloud why I would ever pay so much for a brand-new Spidey cover from the kids line. But I don't mind. Because, really, the main Spidey titles have had horrid covers for 15 years, and I would never pay market prices for those.
