Description

This is from the first full adventure Enric Badia Romero drew after taking over from Jim Holdaway, "Willie the Djin", (which is reprinted in "Modesty Blaise: The Green-Eyed Monster") a mostly lighthearted adventure by the standards of the strip. Here we have the villain, looking a lot like Saddam Hussein being tricked by Modesty and two other captives. Amazingly, the fashions of Arabic bad guys had changed little since 1970.

Modesty's publication dates varied from place to place. The date is based on the September 18, 1970 receipt stamp on the back.

Very nice Romero - writing reminds me of the best of George Wunders lighter moments in the 1950's

Yes, I think Romero is underrated compared to Holdaway.
