Herb Trimpe Hulk/Wolverine

I got this 11 X 17 commission directly from Herb. He was an amazing guy easy to speak with. He recreated the splash page of Hulk 181 for me afterwards as well. I was speaking with him about recreating the whole issue but he passed away unexpectedly.

Talking to him about a fire at Len Weins house?? Apparently from what I know the Giant size X-men 1 and Hulk 181 were supposed to be in it. Then the cover to Giant size 1 turned up but Hulk 181 has never turned up. This is why we wanted to recreate it, in case it was lost. This is exactly what he said in regards to the cover.

“As to the cover, that art is, apparently, still at large Some think it may have been snatched up by a high-roller collector or wealthy entertainment personality. Either way, there's no sign of that either, and I have no knowledge as to its history. We were doing a lot of trading back and forth during that time, as each contributor got back a percentage of an issue. So to get a complete issue, one would have to work out a deal with the other people involved--unless, of course, the creator penciled, inked, and wrote the story himself.”

He never remembered getting the cover back and I suggested he report it in case it pops up. I guess it’s possible one of the other creators got it. I hope it shows up one day and we all get to see it.

I have nothing but great things to say about him.
