Description

In the "World of Darkness" RPG, the greatest number of vampires belong to the Camarilla sect which believe that their survival in the modern world depends on fitting in and hiding from the rest of humanity, the easier to feed on them. Achieving this requires maintaining the Masquerade, a web of lies and misinformation to make the public believe that vampires and other supernatural creatures do not exist. Camarilla society, because of the need for a unified effort, is hierarchical with a ruling class composed of the eldest vampires. The Sabbat oppose the Camarilla, believing that each vampire can do as he pleases, unhindered by elders or consideration for others of his kind. Sabbat, though, still have leaders and this piece illustrates a ritual called the Blood Bath. This rite recognizes a vampire's claim to a title such as bishop or cardinal and is often combined with Vaulderie, a piece of blood magic that creates bonds of loyalty within a vampire pack.
