DescriptionThis sweet ink and watercolor drawing of Jim Hardy and Bill was sent to Gladys Clements, as part of her incredible collection. Comparing this version of Jim to the Hyperion book, I estimate the date to be circa 1936. Clements would also number the pieces in her collection, depending upon when they arrived. This one has a fairly low number, associated with pieces from the mid 1930s. Dick wrote a note on the back, in handwriting that looks surprisingly like his writing from 40 years later: "Dear Mrs. Clements -- I certainly appreciate your interest in my strip. Hope this little sketch will fit into your collection. Sincerely, Dick Moores."Social/Sharing |
