Eugeen Goossens

Eugeen Goossens attended the academy in Antwerp, and joined the studios of Willy Vandersteen in 1965. He inked two 'Suske en Wiske' stories, and also did inking duties on series like 'De Familie Snoek', 'Karl May', 'De Rode Ridder' and 'Bessy'. Afterwards, his main occupation was the production of 'Jerom' stories for the German publisher Bastei.
Goossens turned freelance in the 1970s. He continued to do inks on Vandersteen series like 'Robert en Bertrand', but also created his own comic 'De Dolle Mina' for the advertising magazine Tele-Tip. In the 1980s, he succeeded Eduard De Rop as the inker of Paul Geerts' 'Suske en Wiske' stories, and was also the inker of Vandersteen's final series 'De Geuzen'. He also drew some promotional 'Suske en Wiske' stories on his own, such as 'Witte Zwanen, Zwarte Zwanen' for Albert Heyn (1987) and 'Fata Morgana' for De Efteling (1988).
He left Studio Vandersteen forgood in 1990. He was then involved in the 'Suske en Wiske' animation films by Guido Staes' Atelier 5, and also made some promotional comics with Marck Meul for companies like Bayer and Touring. He eventually focused on painting.
