I started reading comics around the early 90's. While everybody else at my middle school were reading the newest issues of Jim Lee's X-Men and McFarlane's Spidey, I actually didn't have any money to buy new comics. Instead, I had to read the books from my brother's old collection, which were mostly comics from the early- to mid-80's. The superheroes I grew up reading were much different during those times. Spider-man had a black costume. Iron man had a silver armor. Storm had a mohawk. Magneto was a good guy. Captain Marvel was an african-american woman and not some kree. Books like Alpha Flight and Power Pack were actually relevant. And there was also that dude who called himself the Beyonder.

Even though I read these Marvel Age books years after they were published, they were great sources of entertainment. I remember being blown away when I first pulled this annual cover from a comic box. Over the next 20 years, memories of it faded. Then, it showed up at Romitaman. Now, I can't believe I own this. Thanks, Mike!

I love this cover!...and am not ashamed to admit that I own a complete run of Marvel Age. It was a truly wonderful comic that I miss. GREAT cover!

Larry, I just looked through your whole CAF and it's amazing but then I saw this. As a kid I redrew this character by character and I am thrilled to finally see the original. I mean.... wow. I'm speechless.

Gammill can draw any character better than the rest and here he actually went to town and did draw about everyone in the MCU (and still better than the rest) ! Superb piece !
