Karate Kid vs. Karate Kid by Jeff Moy, John Livesay and Simon Gough

I started reading the Legion consistently around the time of the Zero Hour reboot, so Jeff Moy (along with Lee Moder) pretty much defined how I visualized the Legion for many years. So, when I thought of getting a commission from Jeff, I knew that it had to be of his version of Karate Kid. I REALLY wish DC would have Jeff, Tom Peyer and Tom McCraw come back and do a series on their Legion wandering the multiverse and running into long-lost characters and worlds. Anyway, I love the angle and the motion lines Jeff used in this piece. Years later I sent this over to John Livesay (who did some excellent inking on the Threeboot Legion) to ink and he did an incredible job. Check out what John did with the motion lines and the textures to their costumes. Finally, I asked Simon Gough to digitally color it and he absolutely rocked it, as he always does. Thanks again to Jeff, John and Simon for their exemplary work on this commission!

Much like I said about my other Karate Kids piece, both of these guys are the best martial artists in their respective universes, but old-school, original Val Armorr has done some crazy stuff that reboot Val hasn't (even though he took down Mon-El), like stopping an earthquake by striking the ground in the right spot, or fighting the Fatal Five all by himself. So, I say that the original Val wins after a VERY long brawl, but just barely.
