Description

This past June a unique opportunity allowed me the chance to commission Dan Adkins to do the one piece that I most identify from his association with Wally Wood and Tower’s T.H.U.N.D.E.R Agents.

So on the day that DC announced their reinvention of the characters I thought I would share with you all what is to me the definitive image of agent Lightning. What’s ironic is that I don’t think Dan ever drew a solo story featuring the character. Most of the Lightning solo stories were done by Mike Sekowsky with great inks by Frank Giacoa. I believe Dan did do some group stores that featured Lightning along with Dynamo,NoMan and others. However this one pin-up drawn by Dan defined the character to me.

I am deeply appreciative to Dan Adkins who just doesn’t do commissions to relenting this one time and allowing me to recapture a special moment of my childhood.

Beautiful commission, congrats! I remember the original fondly. Agree with you that it's a shame we never got to see Dan render Lightning in a story.
