DescriptionSeen here are the pencils and inks for "Nation X: X-Factor" p6. It shows X-Factor (or as Wolverine calls them "Madrox and his crew") arriving on the mutant island of Utopia for a visit.The page is neat because it shows all 9 regular members of the team (L to R): Rictor, Monet, Siryn (Banshee II), Shatterstar, Strong Guy, Madrox, Longshot, Layla Miller and Darwin. X-Factor isn't really a title about big team splashes. Frankly, one of the reasons why I love the title is that it's essentially a character drama that just so happens to feature people with superpowers, and has the occasional explosion or giant robot attack. This page is probably one of only a half dozen or so interior pages where the full team is in a panel together and looking heroic, and of those, this is certainly my favorite. They just look cool. The look like a team, which is rare for them. They're usually more like a dysfunctional family. And I like that each has a distinctive posture. They aren't just standing there or in an exaggerated "cool" action pose. They're all posed in a slightly different but still natural manner, which adds visual interest to the scene. Plus, the new costume designs are pretty sharp looking. A nice mix of uniform and street clothes. Hats off for putting Layla in cargo shorts so her distinctive striped leggings can continue to show (personally I like this look more than the longer pants or Latvarian robe she sometimes wears), and for putting Rictor in jeans. It's really hard for me to imagine him in any sort of formal costume. I like that none of the costume really match, but they all go together. They're complimentary, but still individually unique. Nice page featuring everyone. Good layout and well drawn. Love all the different poses.
