Description
I sent Budd a request for a nude sketch right after I met him for the first time at a greensboro toy show in '95. He did me one better! I get a call from my cousin Jeff, from his comic shop telling me to get down there immediately and that ,"he wouldn't be responsible!" Budd had sent the cover to CAVEWOMAN:RAIN ASSCAN edition. I believe this was the very first time Meriem was ever nude in published form. In fact, I believe this marks the seventh cover by Budd since it was between issue 6 of the first series and the RAIN series. Also reads, "last drawing of '95." The ashcans were sent out to folks in the biz, like Joe Pruitt and there were only 12 or so. I've never even seen a copy, please shoot me a scan if you have one as I'd love to see it. The photo doesn't do the rendering of Merem's face justice; just exquisite. Budd is the MAN! Later, this piece was used as one of the reprint covers of the Rain series, sadly, just not as effective. Give me straight BUDD, no chaser! "Nobody does it better" - C. Simon
