DescriptionTo the curious, here are the answers to the most frequently asked questions:1) Mitch. Mitch Itkowitz. From one of his catalogs back around 1996. 2) No. No, it is not but thank you for your interest. (Seriously, this is the only finished Bolland that I’m likely to own so I’m rather partial to it.) The woman about to brain Buddy is not Shayera Hol but rather a Thanagarian warrior (Skalla Kol) who never does quite get the drop on Animal Man as depicted on the cover. Go figure. The prelim to the upper right appears courtesy of good buddy, David Schmidt, who had the good sense to pick it up directly from Brian Bolland at a Dragon*Con/Atlanta Comics Expo back in 1991. Many moons (around a decade’s worth) later, David, being a true gentleman and all-around mensch, offered to sell the prelim to me--at his cost--so that I could reunite it with the finished cover knowing full well he could’ve made a tidy profit by selling it on eBay. Now that’s a real friend, no? A better one than a schmuck like me deserves at any rate… Thanks, Davey! Social/Sharing |

Drawing ability aside, Bolland really has a knack for making you want to pick up the comic and find out what happens inside.
