Description
Alan Brennert only wrote a handful of comic book stories, but every one of them is a gem. Here's a page from his retelling of Black Canary's origin in Secret Origins #50, deftly weaving together bits of the character's history made ragged by the retcons of Crisis of Infinite Earths (and earlier!)

In this page we recap Dinah Laurel Lance's Black Canary as a founding Justice Leaguer; during Roy Harper's drug addiction; in a trenchant moment from Mike Grell's Longbow Hunters; as part of the JLA/JSA team-up tradition; and the death of Larry Lance.

Note the blue line correction to the caption referring to Speedy's "heroine withdrawal" and the instruction to "stat and flop" the figure of Hawkman--better to make him part of the party.

Also of note is a pencilled message at top that seems to read "Prepare for pain, Waid." Not sure what that possibly could refer to, but surely all the continuity threads addressed in this page were right up Mark Waid's balliwick.

Not depicted here, the page also includes an overlay indicating the position of some print effects in the final comic book.
