DescriptionThis is another "good things come to those who wait" stories. I first saw this piece in person when I visited Mike Ploog at his California home back in the 1990's. Like the Frankenstein and Bride painting, this one was also framed on his wall and was not for sale at the time. After a 15 year wait, Mike agreed to sell me the piece earlier this year. It's one of my favorite pieces and perfectly captures the feeling of excitement and joy I felt as a kid when I used to bring home snakes, toads, etc. after catching them in the woods that bordered my folks house. The piece was published in the Fantastic Art of Mike Ploog card set in the 1990's.Social/Sharing |

I remember when you were helping Mike sell his art back in those days. You asked me to look through this card set and let you know if there was anything I was interested in. To be fair, you did warn me that Mike was keeping a few personal favorites. When I showed you the two I wanted (of which this was one) you told me those were keepers. Don't know if that was a diversionary tactic on your part (LOL), but I'm just glad you were able to get him to take this down off his wall. I know you it will hang just as proudly on your wall for many years to come! Congrats buddy! Hope to see this in person some day!

As soon as I opened this piece, I got excited and was looking to see if you might part with it, until I read the description. Then I just sat back and laughed realizing that it just went thru a changing of the gaurd and no further. I have to say a huge congrats to you for being able to pry this one from his walls! I don't care who you are, or how old you are, this would bring a smile to anybodies face so thanks for sharing and making me smile today.

Congrads Jim! Very Cool! I've always loved Mike's art since I first seen it in Marvel Spoltlight #3 with Werewolf by Night.

In a comic world full of battles, team-ups, and whatever...It's precious to see a candid art like that. Very precious.

Fabulous painting. Love the happy innocent look on the boy's face and the knowing smirk on the Dragon's. Congrats!
