I got the idea that Sophia Loren stood model for the female figure ?

Mr Bertoletti modeled his female and male characters looking at the Hollywood's stars (Rita Hayworth and Robert Taylor for example). This cover was painted in 1954, and Sophia Loren reached her first success in the moovie field a year later with "La Donna del Fiume".

To me this has a strong Ava Gardner look alike ! That's why I like it (! with the quality on skin tones and eyes rendering of course).. but I can be wrong.
The man looks familiar too but I can't place it yet.

I agree with you regarding AVA GARDNER, for this reason I put also a pic of her in the additional images. I wrote the names of Rita and Robert as example....... The artists Bertoletti and Molino in their ink-wash-works published in the 50's on the italian magazine GRAND HOTEL ( in France was NOUS DEUX -Cino Del Duca ) depicted a great lot of movie stars of that era.
