DescriptionIn this Terry and the Pirates daily, dated 11/24/39, Pat Ryan and April Kane have been given shelter by the pirate Cap'n Blaze. April causes a ruckus when she requests water for a bath. From a prime period in Caniff's work, his spotting of blacks in this piece is just perfect. And that second panel (see detail below) is a honey. This story arc would later merge into the story introducing Raven Sherman into the comic strip.Social/Sharing |

Rob, this is as good an example of Caniff's excellent illustration, and that 2nd panel is to die for!
