Description
Hogun vs. Mantis by Phil Hester and Simon Gough

Phil Hester is not only one of my favorite artists, but one of my favorite writers as well. Ever since I got my first commission from Phil a couple of years ago I've been wanting another one, and these Asgard/Fourth World ideas seemed right up his alley. We tweeted and e-mailed back and forth about this idea a while back and I was super-psyched to finally see it this week. I love that Hogun has no expression on his face and how Phil conveyed the weight of that mace as Hogun swings it. And he knocked off one of Mantis's jaw pincer things! A HUGE thanks again to Phil for delivering such an awesome commission to me!

I know Mantis is supposed to be super-powerful and all, but I personally think that Hogun would kill him with multiple blows to the head with his mace. And if somehow Mantis were to gain the upper hand with all of his crazy energy attacks, then I'm sure that Fandral and Volstagg would jump in to help Hogun take him out.

If you like this piece then please do go buy some books featuring Phil's work in either physical or digital format.

Wonderful piece! Amazing to see Hester's different styles between this and my Swamp Thing Title page. Congrats!

I love these cool one-on-one matchups you come up with. Hester brought his A-game on this great piece.
