The comic art world lost a tremendous talent when the great Al Rio left us earlier this year. I was fortunate to pick up a couple of Rio's leftover prelim sketches via his art rep Terry Maltos shortly after Al's passing. I asked Bob Almond, the King of commission inking, to work his magic on these pieces. This image of Dawnstar, from the Legion of Super-Heroes, was the first off Bob's inking table. I believe the late Mr. Rio would have been pleased with the results.

Beautiful. I was hoping to get something Legion related by Al also to add to my gallery but I am happy to see this tribute.
