Description

Behold the latest in my series of "What If" commissions featuring the Thing and John Carter of Mars battling against the dreaded Badoon for control of the planet's water supply.

Pencils are by the amazing Ian "Rico" Richardson, who completed his work during an especially challenging period in his life. Inks are by the ever-incredible Bob Almond who always (successfully) challenges himself to do the highest quality work.

This dam burst scenario was nakedly adapted from my favorite Carl Barks painting: Dam Disaster at Money Lake.

The pencils and inks for this drawing were arranged directly with the respective artists. Please send your business their way, as they are most deserving.

Pencils alone are fantastic, add Bob's inks and BAM! instant masterpiece. Love Ian's take on the Thing, to me one of the harder characters to draw, and seldomly pulled off correctly. Carter has a Kane feel to him, and those Badoon look like they skipped off a Buscema Surfer page from the Silver Age. Congrats on one of the better recent commissions I've seen posted anywhere!

Ian packed this page with action, almost Schomburg like with everything going on and Bob did a great job on inks. I love the Badoon in the foreground especially -- just perfect use of minimal blacks around the eyes and mouth -- this one, pilgrim, has it all.

Love how the Badoon in the forefront is looking for backup as he knows he's about to get his scaly butt kicked. This is an incredibly cool commission.
