This is terrific! Really interesting to see Wrightson's process. His pencils are so good. It's amazing he is willing to develop a great drawing to this level and not finish it. Thanks for posting!
The only thing I can think of as to why he abandoned this was to do with the height of the treeline on the left. Its slightly in the wrong position compositionally.
Simply magnificent! Why he abandoned pieces like this is a mystery.
