Miller - The Search

Sometimes, I just run across something I like... this is one of those cases...

Tom B., a member here, had this piece in his collection by an artist named Chris Miller. Tom provided some very courteous and informational emails, as well as working with me to make this happen...

Though this is the prelim, it's not too much of a departure from the actual panel that ended up in the portfolio (Dragon Realm) which I just received. The portfolio has the finished piece and is the plate which is signed, so these will look nice framed together... I love Wizards, Dragons, Zombies, Magic, and Mysticism...

Not necessarily in that order...

While researching this and looking further into Tom's collection (He's owned this personally for 30 years), I also discovered a plate from another portfolio named "Forest Procession", from another Miller portfolio titled: "Fantasy Serenade". If you haven't already, you should check it out in the Tom B. gallery... It is way cool, but NFS...

Per Tom, Chris sort of dropped out of the business, and may be working on street corners in Mexico... During my business days in Guadalajara MX, I saw many artists plying their talents in the area. Guadalajara was a very cool place to visit (If it hadn't been for the whole work thing).

This photo is an enhanced version of Tom’s… I'll post my own when I receive the actual piece, along with the portfolio plate...

Update 6/16/2013:

Well, it took me a while to get around to doing this due to the piece being all the way to the edge on one side, but quite a bit of room on the other. But, after deciding to trim the page for most suitable framing, I think this came out great.

Inside the image is Chris's traditional crest and '83, but he also signed it at the opening in the mat along the bottom. It may just have been the prelim, but it is a beautifully detailed piece nonetheless...
