Description

Kerry Gammill, in my mind, was one of the most underrated Superman artists to work for DC Comics. He filled in on several issues of SUPERMAN after Byrne began to drop off, and did many covers for ACTION COMICS as well. I loved the way he drew Supes, and all the supporting characters for that matter. This fantastic cover to the 1995 collected trade paperback SUPERMAN: ERADICATION! was (according to Kerry) the very last hand-drawn Superman cover he ever did. The book collected all the stories involving The Eradicator, which as we all know eventually played a big role in "The Reign of the Supermen" storyline after Superman died. I love how dynamic this piece is, and Art Thibert (who was also no stranger to working on The Big Blue Boy Scout) provided some killer inks over this baby. I bought this from Kerry, and I couldn't be happier that I did. I own a few of his pages from various Superman titles, but this definitely is the crown jewel of my Gammill collection.

Oh my. I completely agree with you, Kerry is fantastic. Wish I knew how to get a simple page of superman by him.

Kerry Gammill's depiction of Superman is among my all-time favorites (probably in the top 3). I've been looking for a nice example for years, so while I'm pretty jealous right now, I'm very happy for you. I hope to find my own Gammill piece sometime down the road (hopefully sooner than later). Congrats on this great cover !

Hey Gal, I just posted a really nice Kerry Gammill SUPERMAN page I'm selling, which won't happen often. From what I've found in my searching, getting a Gammill page that actually has Superman on it is getting to be next to impossible. I've seen some rather plain "exposition" pages of his with no costumed characters on them sell for close to $100. Not sure where everything is now, but seems like most of the desirable stuff is long gone. The only reason I'm selling the page that I just listed is because I have two pages from the same issue (#25, my favorite issue he worked on).
