DescriptionThis amazing Virgil Finlay illustration is from the novella "Strange Compulsion" by Philip Jose Farmer. It appeared in the pages of Science Fiction Plus - October 1953. It is worth mentioning that this is one of the largest single page Finlay b&w illustrations that I have ever seen. It measures 8.5 x 11.5 inches, whereas most single page Finlays are in the 5x7 inch range. Thus, it is quite impressive! Also used as the cover of the 2018 Sci-Fi Art of Virgil Finlay Wall Calendar pictured above.Social/Sharing |

Magically beautiful. Only have one original Finlay so am quite jealous of your collection of his wonderful artwork. Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed the recent book!!

People throw the word Master and it's not used enough when talking about Virgil Finlay's work but this man was truly a Master at his craft!!!
