Original Double page splash art for X-Men Phoenix Endsong #4 (Marvel Comics, 2005) by Greg Land (pencils) and Matt Ryan (inks). Not only is this an absolutely stunning example of Land's exceptional talent, but these two pages represent a very key scene in this story line as the Phoenix Force, compelled by Jean Grey's love for Scott Summers, forces Cyclops to infuse herself with more and more power from his optic blast in order to accomplish its goal of reuniting Grey and Summers. And, Ryan's finishes are simply sublime with such a magnificent shading technique, which enhances the piece with an subtle airbrush feel.

This is the Dark Phoenix in her full glory and even ecstasy if you will, as she feeds off her former lover's powerful optic ray blast, while flexing her flaming wings fully behind her in complete euphoric rapture. I'm glad you didn't. The Land/ Ryan team is one of the most impressive I've ever seen. Especially when Ryan uses this particular inking technique. Love It!

This series was Greg Land at his very best. Matt Ryan's inks really worked perfectly.
